Rosie O’Donnell

In 2001, the comedian and talk show host revealed a lifelong struggle with depression. In an article published in her now-defunct magazine, Rosie, O’Donnell said the illness, as well as alcoholism, run in her family and that she was depressed as a child.

She also discussed her condition on “Good Morning America,” detailing how she saw various therapists for a decade before finally deciding to take medication, though doctors had been suggesting it for years.

O’Donnell resisted because an aunt’s personality totally changed when she’d taken lithium to treat depression.
